Westminster updates - May ‘26
Over the past month in Westminster, I:
Supported My Money Week, the national financial education campaign led by Young Enterprise and supported by HSBC UK. Their event highlighted the importance of improving financial literacy among young people and encouraged schools across the country to take part in the programme.
Met with WWF UK to discuss environmental priorities and the role Parliament can play in supporting efforts to protect nature and tackle climate change.
Continued working with colleagues in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) on measures to improve online safety, including proposals for a landmark social media ban for under-16s.
Attended a briefing on HS2. Click here for a statement from me on the news that the line will not be running until at least 2039.
Voted in support of the King’s Speech, backing the Government’s legislative programme for the parliamentary session ahead.
Met with representatives from across the financial services sector to discuss how we can encourage greater retail investment and support more people to build long-term financial resilience.
