Westminster updates - November/December ‘25

Over the past month in Westminster, I:

  • Spoke in the chamber on the importance of funding our youth services and our strategic alignment with NATO.

  • Voted in favour of the Employment Rights Bill. It is hard to overstate how transformative this legislation will be for working people. I also voted to pass our landmark Budget.

  • Met with stakeholders to discuss how we can maximise the impact of Budget announcements to encourage greater retail investment.

  • Engaged with the Living Standards Coalition on how government can better mitigate the impact of the cost of living.

  • Received answers to written questions on reducing economic inactivity in rural communities, supporting green finance, and the contribution of Buckinghamshire to UK tourism – and more.

  • Spoke with children from Buckingham Primary School during their visit to the Parliamentary Education Centre.

  • Took part in a Westminster Hall debate on the Oxford–Cambridge Growth Corridor.

  • Welcomed local Bletchley councillors to Parliament.

  • Spoke at Politico’s Financial Services Forum on key issues facing the sector.

  • Continued to engage with East West Rail and other stakeholders on the Oxford–Cambridge line, and how we can get it open as quickly as possible.
