Opportunities, opportunities, opportunities

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! It was nice to have some time to take stock of a big week of policy announcements, all of which made me extremely proud to be a part of this government. From making sure an extra 500,000 young people are eligible for free school meals, to ensuring all new homes have solar panels - we are working hard for you.

All this positive news has led me to thinking a lot about opportunities: the ones I’ve had, the ones our young people deserve, and the ones we must continue to create as a nation. I’ve shared a few thoughts on this topic in my latest column in The Bucks Herald, please do have a read.

Nationally we are turning things around, and locally I am focused on supporting constituents. This is why I am continuing to hold Anglian Water’s feet to the fire on polluted waterways, why I have joined other local MPs to call on Buckinghamshire Council to make use of new powers to run bus services, and why I have launched a new survey on management companies and leasehold. If there is anything else I can do to help you, please let me know.

As always, thank you for reading. If there is anything I can do to help you, please get in touch.

Local visits

In the constituency I:

  • Dropped by the West Bletchley Spring Fayre and Buckingham Town Council’s Mayoral reception.

  • Visited the highly innovative local business, Udderly Fresh Raw Milk. A big thank you to Clare and Jim for showing me around and sharing your thoughtful views on what the future of UK farming and agriculture should look like.

  • Met with the Guinness Partnership at Candleford Court in Buckingham to discuss how they can improve their relationship with residents in their leasehold properties.

Westminster

In Westminster I:

  • Spoke at the Quoted Companies Alliance conference about retail investment.

  • Celebrated new measures to protect retail workers from abuse and violence with USDAW.

  • Received answers from Ministers on a wide variety of questions on capital markets, energy infrastructure and enabling agricultural technology.
