An update on Lace Hill Medical Centre

The sun is out, and I hope you’re all enjoying this glorious weather!

I’m also hoping that this good weather continues until VE Day (8 May) next week. I’m really looking forward to attending events across Buckingham, Bletchley, Tattenhoe, Winslow and the many villages in-between to celebrate our heroic veterans.

And ahead of VE Day, I’ve written my latest Callum’s Column in the Bucks Herald on why I think it is so important for us to come together in celebration - not just of victory in Europe, but of the enduring spirit of service, sacrifice, and solidarity that defines our community. You can also find a list of local events on my website here.

Elsewhere, I’d like to remind readers that the Buckinghamshire Business Awards are now open for nominations, as are the Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Community Awards. Please spread the word - it would be great to see as many local people nominated as possible.

Of course this week I have to end on sporting news. A huge well done to neighbouring Chris Curtis MP who ran the London Marathon yesterday with an extremely respectable time; and I’d also like to say a big thank you to Dean Lewington for his 22 years as MK Dons’ go-to left-back. Both deserve to take a break and take stock of their achievements.

As always, thank you for reading - and do get in touch if there is anything I can support you with.

Local visits

Last week in the constituency I:

  • Joined my fellow Milton Keynes MPs and Cllr Pete Marland to support Workers’ Memorial Day today.

  • Spent my Sunday at the Spring Green Fair at the Cattle Pens in Buckingham. Huge congratulations to everyone involved for another fantastic event!

  • Enjoyed a morning in Mursley and spoke to local people at St Mary the Virgin Church. I was then thrilled to join the community for the grand opening of the new children’s playground (pictured).

  • Dropped by M&M supplies in Bletchley to hear about how they support people with learning disabilities into employment. They’re no ordinary company and it was a pleasure to visit (pictured).Spoke to residents across Buckingham and the surrounding villages about any issues they wanted to raise with me.

In Westminster

Back in Westminster I:

  • Lead a debate in Westminster Hall on retail investment. Here are my patriotic reasons why we should be encouraging our citizens to invest in shares.

  • Took part in a cross-party visit to the Bank of England to find out more about the work they do to strengthen our economy.

  • Attended a roundtable on the role of tax in a fairer, greener future.
