An update on Lace Hill Medical Centre
I hope everyone enjoyed the incredible weather this weekend. I enjoyed getting out across Buckingham this weekend to speak to local residents in the sunshine (with a quick stop at the White Hart!).
The most exciting news I have to share with you this week is that the Lace Hill Medical Centre has finally been approved. You can watch my video on it here, and I’d like to reiterate how pleased I am to see this project reach this stage. Delivering the local NHS services we need is a top priority as your MP. That’s why meeting with the Swan Practice team was one of the first things I did once elected. I’d like to thank the team there, and anyone else who has contributed to the campaign, for their tireless efforts to get this project delivered.
It was also a big week up in Parliament. The start of April turbocharged our Plan for Change. From 1st April, the state pension is increasing by up to £470/year, three million workers have had a pay rise thanks to the National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage increase, and 300 new school-based nurseries have been announced, including at our very own Great Horwood CofE school. It’s fantastic to see this much-needed change delivered, both here at home and nationwide.
Please do have a read of what I’ve been up to and I hope you have a lovely week ahead (let’s hope the good weather stays with us).
Local visits
Last week in the constituency I:
Visited the Acorn Nursery to hear more about the challenges of early years provisioning.
Spoke with local businesses at a lunch hosted by MK Dons.
Spoke to residents across Buckingham and the surrounding villages about any issues they wanted to raise with me.
In Westminster
Back in Westminster I:
Spoke in the Chamber about the fantastic work done by our local early learning provisioners like Great Horwood CofE School.
Responded to Trump’s tariffs and called for the UK to co-operate globally on the issue.
Celebrated our local Bletchley Scot FC and asked the government about its plans to support grassroots football.
Met with industry leaders to understand how we can support the UK’s growing fintech sector.
