What I’ve been up to in the constituency this month
🚗 Silverstone Museum Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Outreach Event – Supported an outreach initiative bringing hands-on motorsport learning into schools across Great Britain.
🛒 Apprenticeships – Asda Newton Leys – Met with a local apprentice and their team to hear about opportunities for young people and how we can continue to expand access to apprenticeships locally.
💷 Financial Education – Milton Keynes College – Had a valuable discussion with Sally Alexander and students about how Government can better support financial education and equip young people with essential life skills.
🎤 Milton Keynes School Debate – Attended a brilliant school debate competition and cheered on Sir Herbert Leon Academy and Lord Grey Academy. On any other day they would have won…
🚆 East West Rail – Newton Longville Meeting – Joined residents at a local meeting on the proposed East West Rail depot in Newton Longville.
📍 Constituency Surgeries – Hosted regular constituency surgeries in Winslow, Buckingham and Bletchley, supporting residents with a wide range of issues.
⚽ Milton Keynes Dons Football Club vs Harrogate Town Association Football Club Community Day – Had the pleasure of attending the community day fixture – a fantastic atmosphere and great to see so many people involved. Let’s hope they get promoted!
🎙️ Winslow Lions Club Charter Dinner – Spoke at the Winslow Lions Club Charter Dinner about my experience as a new Member of Parliament, including what has surprised me most so far.
💻 The National Museum of Computing – Attended an event on “Exploring Digital Origins and Future Possibilities” and heard fascinating insights into the development of computing and future innovation.
🏫 Knowles Primary School & Eden Court – Visited Knowles Primary School and saw their excellent intergenerational space, including the “Tea and Togetherness” project bringing pupils together with residents from Eden Court – a brilliant example of community collaboration.
🍽️ Buckingham Supper Club – Popped along to the Buckingham Supper Club celebration and supported another great local community initiative.
🤝 Milton Keynes Community Foundation – Vital Signs Launch – Took part in the launch of Vital Signs with Milton Keynes Community Foundation, working alongside charity leaders and community representatives to develop practical solutions to local challenges.
🏡 Santander UK plc – Energy Efficiency Discussions – Met with Santander UK plc to discuss their engagement with local residents on improving energy efficiency.
🎧 On the Decks & Akeley Wood School – Had great fun acting as a disc jockey for the day with On the Decks during their session at Akeley Wood School.
☕ Legends Café – Caught up with Legends Café to discuss how Government can best support the hospitality industry and local businesses.
🏆 Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards – Cheered on Horwood House Hotel at the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards and celebrated the achievements of local businesses.
📱 Mursley Men's Dinner – Spoke about the benefits and pitfalls of social media at the Mursley Men's Dinner.
🏃 The Stowe House Preservation Trust – Trust Milton Keynes Event – Took part in the Trust Milton Keynes event at Stowe and put on my running shoes.
🌙 Eid Celebration – The Grand Sultan Restaurant – Celebrated Eid at The Grand Sultan Restaurant. A wonderful occasion also marked the launch of the Milton Keynes Unity Organisation, bringing communities together.
🧒 Winslow Church of England School – Spoke with young people about their experiences, aspirations and future opportunities.
🏛️ Buckingham Town Council Annual General Meeting – Took part in the Annual General Meeting and discussed key priorities for the town.
🥚 Abbey's Primary School Easter Egg Competition – Had the difficult task of judging the Easter Egg competition – some incredibly creative entries!
🚧 East West Rail Company Limited, Chiltern Railways Company Limited & National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers – Continued discussions on delays to East West Rail with key stakeholders. Click here for a fuller overview.
🏡 Winslow Parish Council & Adstock Parish Council – Met with both councils to discuss local priorities and ongoing issues.
👨🔧 Winslow Men in Sheds – What a fantastic group! They’re around 50 members strong and clearly making a real difference in the community. It was brilliant to see such camaraderie, skill-sharing, and support in action.
✈️ Turweston Aerodrome – It was great to pop over earlier this week to Turweston Aerodrome - one of the most westerly parts of our Buckingham and Bletchley constituency! - to catch up with George from Mellow Meats Ltd.
It was a really useful conversation covering a range of local issues, and plenty for me to get cracking on with alongside my team. I’m very grateful to George for his time.
🌊 Multi-Agency Flood Meeting – It was a pleasure to host my quarterly Multi-Agency Flood Meeting at Lace Hill Community Centre, and I am grateful to Buckingham Town Council for making the venue available.
🤝 Winslow Rotary Club – Spoke to the Winslow Rotary Club. Great to chat with such a civically-minded group of people.
