Constituency updates - April ‘26

What I’ve been up to in the constituency this month

👷‍♀️ International Workers’ Memorial Day – Joined local residents to remember those who lost their lives simply for going to work, and to stand with the families and communities they leave behind.

📍 Constituency surgeries – Held my regular constituency surgeries across Winslow, Bletchley and Buckingham, meeting residents and helping with a wide range of local concerns and casework.

🏛️ Local meetings - Attended the annual Buckinghamshire Council reception in Aylesbury alongside meetings with the Central East ICB, Cllr Llew Monger, the local Fawcett Society, and discussions regarding the Brunel Centre and local priorities.

🚗 Mercedes & Farm Visits – Spent time with local businesses in Brackley and Turweston discussing the challenges and opportunities facing employers in our rural communities, and how I can best support them going forward.

🤝 Parkinson’s Group Visit – Had the pleasure of visiting a Parkinson’s support group in Winslow. The sense of community, encouragement and friendship in the room was genuinely inspiring, and it was a valuable opportunity to listen and learn from those taking part and their families.

🏫 Cambian School Visit – A huge thank you to Karen Truman and the whole team at Cambian School in Bletchley for such a warm welcome. I was especially touched to receive a fantastic piece of artwork created by Ariana, Ameen and Rares, which will be proudly displayed in my office.

Lace Hill Primary School – Met with the school’s brilliant Pupil Parliament in Buckingham, who asked some thoughtful and insightful questions, before heading outside together to place a time capsule into the ground.

🏉 Buckingham vs Bletchley Rugby Lunch – Was delighted to speak about the important role sport plays in bringing communities together and supporting both physical and mental wellbeing, especially for men and boys.

💪 Bates Body Factory Visit – Put in the hard work during a PT session at Bates Body Factory in Buckingham! It was great hearing more about how the business has grown and the role it plays in helping people of all ages stay active and healthy locally.

🦷 Oxford House Dental Practice – Had a really positive discussion about community outreach, local health hubs, and the importance of organisations working together to improve health and wellbeing across the area.

Buckingham Open House – Really enjoyed joining the monthly Open House gathering at Buckingham Community Centre, kindly supported by Community Care North Bucks. It’s such a welcoming space for people to come together over tea, coffee and cake, helping tackle loneliness and isolation in the community.

🌾 Countryside Alliance Meeting – Met with local Countryside Alliance members at The Swan in Stewkley to discuss the issues facing rural communities and how we can continue to champion the countryside nationally.

🍰 Gawcott Friendship Group –It was lovely to visit the Gawcott Friendship Club at the village hall and chat with residents from across north Buckinghamshire over coffee, tea and homemade cake about everything from potholes to GP access and upcoming trips.

🇮🇹 Buckingham Twinning Association – Had a lovely time at Buckingham Community Centre meeting visiting students from Valmadrera, Italy, Buckingham’s twin town, during their visit.

⚜️ St George’s Day Parade – It was a real pleasure to join Buckingham, Winslow & District Scouts in Great Horwood for their St George’s Day parade alongside local councillors, community leaders and families from across the area.
