Views on welfare reform

Sorry that the newsletter has come late this week. I wanted to make sure that I could share my full and frank views following the second reading of the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill - which you can find here. I would like to assure everyone who has written to me that they will receive a response - I know it is a very emotive issue, and one I care about deeply.

I promised when I was elected that I would be open and transparent, and this is why I have launched the first in a series of ‘Meet your MP’ events in Buckingham and Winslow next week. Click here for more information and how to register - I hope to see some of you soon.

As always, thank you for reading. If there is anything I can do to help you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Constituency

  • Held one of my regular constituency surgeries in Water Eaton.

  • Visited Quainton Primary school and answered questions from their students (on all sorts of topics!)

  • Went to a Sunday service at St Mary’s Chuch in Padbury to formally welcome The Revd Dr Quentin Chandler as Vicar of the Benefice.

  • Had the pleasure of joining our local community for India Day:Milton Keynes in Campbell Park. Every year, this wonderful event grows bigger and better, showing everything that’s great about our city.

  • Met with Buckinghamshire Council on how we can all collaborate together to improve the lives of local people.

Westminster

In Westminster I:

  • Highlighted the brilliant work of MK Snap and M&M Supplies in the House of Commons. Click here to watch.

  • Met with Money and Mental Health on how we can create real change for people affected by financial difficulties and mental health problems.

  • Registered to be a Stem Cell donor at an Anthony Nolan and DKMS drop-in.
