Vote on assisted dying
Commons backing the Bill on assisted dying and an amendment to decriminalise abortion.
I received close to a thousand emails on assisted dying, and hundreds of pieces of correspondence on decriminalising abortion too. For transparency, I have set out on my website why I voted in favour of both of these changes - which you can read here and here. I’d like to say thank you to everyone who spoke with me and shared their stories, and I’d like to assure you that I took the responsibility of both of these votes extremely seriously.
I also recently shared my views on Baroness Casey’s audit into group-based child sexual exploitation, and the actions our Government is taking to confront the past. We are using every lever at our disposal to expose abusers, support survivors, and make sure these failings are never repeated. As your MP I will always stand up for victims of exploitation.
I’ve covered some heavy topics in this week’s newsletter, but these subjects are important. So, to end on a lighter note, I was really pleased to see Bletchley Rugby Club - alongside others - launch ‘Project Enigma’ to upgrade Manor Fields and make it one of our patch’s prime sporting locations. I can’t wait to see this project develop.
As always, thank you for reading.
