My reflections on Single Parent’s Day

It’s been another busy week for me, both in Westminster and closer to home.

In Parliament I was proud to wear a badge to celebrate Single Parents Day, and here is a video on why supporting single mums and dads means so much to me. Locally, my latest Callum’s Column was published in the Bucks Herald on the new Crime and Policing Bill’s and its measures to get tough on crime - do have a read through.

Looking at the national picture, I am sure most readers are aware that our Government has launched a consultation on welfare reform, and ahead of any changes I’ve shared my views on this topic here.

I promise to keep constituents updated on these changes, and would like to reassure readers that we will never penalise those who genuinely cannot work because of ill health.

Do have a read through of what I’ve been up to, and thank you for reading.

Local visits

Last week in the constituency I:

  • Was grilled by students at Sir Herbert Leon Academy on all things parliament and democracy.

  • Visited The Lakes Estate and received updates on its regeneration.

  • Chatted to 100+ people in Mount Pleasant on local healthcare, flooding, and providing high quality infrastructure.

  • Celebrated all the brilliant winners and nominees at the MK Business Achievement Awards.

  • Met even more local businesses during a lunch with entrepreneurs taking part in the Natwest Accelerator programme.

In Westminster

Back in Westminster I:

  • Voted in favour of the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill to better protect children and raise standards in education.

  • Attended a roundtable with Emma Hardy MP (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Water and Flooding) on tackling regional flooding.
